Questions and Answers about our ministry.

QUESTION: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN MINISTRY?

Answer:

I started teaching Sunday School class for children at age 14 (1960). I studied each lesson and every Sunday I saw how the children were touched by the Word of God. I taught children for twenty years.

QUESTION:  WHEN DID YOU START TEACHING ADULTS?

Answer: In my 30’s, I started teaching adult classes for Sunday School, also teaching on marriage and family and speaking at ladies’ functions.

QUESTION: HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN PASTORAL COUNSELING?

Answer: When I was teaching marriage and family seminars, people would ask me questions regarding painful issues in their past or present life. I realized I needed more education to become a healing helper in the Kingdom of God. The Lord led me to the INSTITUTE OF CHRISTIAN COUNSELING through Capital Christian Center’s, Sacramento, CA, a fully accredited bible college. I went there to gain knowledge to become a better teacher and the Lord opened the door into pastoral counseling when I graduated in 1992.

QUESTION: WHAT ABOUT PSYCHOLOGY? DOES IT AGREE WITH THE WORD OF GOD?

Answer:  Psychology means ‘psyche-logos’, literally, THE STUDY OF THE SOUL.  I can teach, counsel and write from God’s Word from Genesis to Revelations on the ‘study of the soul.’ God breathed into Adam and man became a living soul. We must learn how to ‘live and move and have are being’ in God. All the answers come from the Word of God.

QUESTIONS: HOW DO YOU MINISTER IN CHURCHES?

Answer:  I teach the Word of God to help us ‘grow up unto the Lord’. We all need to grow continually spiritually, emotionally and relationally in God and with others. I also counsel people in the church at the pastor’s request.

I love making the Word of God come alive in our hearts through teaching and counseling. Learning how to ‘be holy as He is holy’ effects every aspect of our lives. We must learn to glorify God in everything we do. When we focus on pleasing the Lord, we can learn to be better spouses, parents, friends, youth, students, teachers, employers, employees, etc.

QUESTION:  WHY IS COUNSELING IMPORTANT FOR THE CHURCH?

Answer:  When we experience salvation, God removes our sins, but He does not remove our emotions or our memories. If we have emotional pain from abuse or painful relationships or family issues, we may need help in applying God’s truth to our life. We must learn how to forgive others that will give us the gift of emotionally healing. We have to learn how not to allow the pain of our past to define who we are today. It’s takes applying the Word of God to our lives which includes prayer in the process.

The Bible teaches there is safety in counseling, but the counseling must be based on the Word of God. A person who has been a sexual abuse victim suffers untold emotional trauma along with the physical pain. The emotional pain does not disappear with age. Sometimes it seems to grow larger. Most emotionally wounded people need a Holy Ghost filled and educationally skilled person to guide them through the process of healing and forgiveness. Some could do this on their own, but usually do not know how to do this without help.

This is why the church needs to encourage members to gain Bible based education in counseling so we can be ‘healing helpers’. In the church today, we have dysfunctional families and marriages, divorce, sexually active youth and older singles, addictions, abuse, etc.  It takes wisdom to counsel, teach and help these hurting (saved) people.

QUESTION: WHAT IS YOUR DREAM FOR LIFE ENRICHMENT MINISTRIES, INC.?

Answer:  Since 1992, I’ve been praying and visioning a counseling retreat location where people involved in ministry could come for help and restoration for their own lives. It will take a major financial miracle from God to fund a site for ‘in house’ counseling including some recreation. Even at the age of 66, I’m asking God for this to happen if it is His perfect will. We are now a non-profit (501c3) incorporation and are able to accept major grants and donations that could make this happen.

We live in Loveland, CO. Our home church is with Pastor Dieter Skowron, Johnstown, CO – http://www.altonline.org.
